CryoEM

In a drug discovery campaign, structural biology can provide crucial insight into the mechanism of action of therapeutics and can inform subsequent cycles of the Design-Make-Test-Analyze (DMTA) cycle. At Concept Life Sciences, we provide cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM), which can be used to visualise macromolecules in isolation or in complex with molecular partners.

Since cryoEM samples are prepared in solution, it is possible to solve structures of multiple states in a single sample. CryoEM is a powerful complementary technique to X-ray crystallography, as it can handle large, flexible complexes that do not typically crystallise. 

Some examples of the use of cryoEM in drug discovery are:

  • Multi-subunit structure determination (e.g. ternary PROTAC structures)
